Gotham City And Riverdale Collide In Comic Crossover

Comic book crossovers sometimes result in very peculiar situations. It has to be decided what the tone of the story will be and how the different comic book universes will be allowed to mesh with each other. We’ve recently seen DC Comics cross over with other properties with a fairly serious tone. There’s been a Justice League/Power Rangers series and a couple with Batman teaming up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

DC is ready for another crossover–this time with Archie Comics.

This fall the two publishers will give us Harley & Ivy Meet Betty & Veronica. The mini-series will be written by Paul Dini (Harely Quinn) and Marc Andreyko (Wonder Woman ’77), with art by Laura Braga (DC Bombshells).

How and why will these characters interact?

It turns out Riverdale is trying to establish free college tuition for its residents. In order to accommodate this new proposal, the town will have to build a new campus. Unfortunately this means they’ll have to drain the wetlands that lie between Riverdale and Gotham City.

As you can imagine, this action isn’t something that Poison Ivy will be thrilled about. To put a stop to the destruction of a natural habitat, Ivy convinces her best pal Harley to kidnap Veronica Lodge, the daughter of Riverdale’s most prominent citizen, along with her friend Betty. Craziness ensues when the two pair of BFF’s come together.

Harley & Ivy Meet Betty & Veronica goes on sale in October. Amanda Conner provides the cover, shown above, and there will be a variant cover by Adam Hughes.
